Meet Hippo

Hippo is a sweet senior gentleman looking for a loving home to spend his golden years. Hippo loves everyone he meets- whether it's making new human friends or soaking up attention from familiar faces, Hippo is happiest when he's surrounded by people who love him.

Despite his age, Hippo still enjoys being part of the action, though he does have some stiffness in his hind end. He is currently on long-term Meloxicam to help keep him comfortable and mobile. Because of his mobility limitations, Hippo would do best in a home without young children who may accidentally bump into him or be too energetic around him.

When meeting other dogs, Hippo is Dog Selective - he seems to prefer female dogs.  Hippo does not like cats.

Hippo does have some ongoing medical needs that his future family should be prepared to continue. He requires:

• Long-term Meloxicam for mobility and comfort ($150 every 1.5 Months)
• Long-term eye lubricant (OTC can be used)
• A Prescription Veterinary Diet (PVD) Derm diet with an S/O Index, which must be maintained long-term ($170 for a month and a bit)
• Daily Omega-3 supplementation (can get at any pet store)

Hippo is looking for a family who will embrace both the joys and responsibilities of caring for a senior dog. In return, he'll provide endless affection, a gentle presence, and the kind of unconditional love that only a senior dog can give.
